Welcome to Ventures with Verity in the Heart of England

Let me introduce myself. My name is Verity Tiff and I am a qualified Blue Badge Tourist Guide for the Heart of England and an experienced Walks Leader. I would love to help you make your time in the Heart of England as memorable and enjoyable as possible.

Although not fluent in any language other than English I enjoy other languages and cultures and am able to "meet and greet" in several European languages. Having learnt French and German at school (as well as Latin) I am currently studying Italian.

My background is science, (I have a BSc Hons in biochemistry from Bristol University), but my interests are many including the countryside and the natural world, historic buildings, social history, music and the arts.

I am a member of The Institute of Tourist Guiding; Guild of Registered Tourist Guides and Heart of England Tourist Guides Association.

Based in Coventry, within easy reach of the NEC and Birmingham airport I offer private guided walking tours (both town and country) and coach tours throughout the Heart of England. Stretching from Oxford and Gloucester in the south, Shrewsbury in the east, the Potteries at Stoke and the Staffordshire Moorlands in the north to Warwickshire and Shakespeare's country in the east, explore areas as diverse as the rual honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds and the industrial history of the Black Country. We have it all. Learn more about the Heart of England and its attractions HERE

Whether you want general tours or those on a theme such as Gardens, Industrial History, Literary Characters, TV and Film locations I can help with the planning as well as providing background information to enable you to get the most out of your visit. CONTACT ME

How I can enhance the enjoyment of your visit and help you make the most of your time in the Heart of England?

Learn more about the history and culture, the forces that have shaped our countryside as well as modern developments.

Town and City Guided Walks

The only way to see some of our towns and cities is on foot. See amazing architecture, learn about famous faces.

Enjoy a guided walk around Coventry with its medieval past and 21st century future; or Birmingham,  England's 2nd city and "City of a Thousand Trades". See at first hand the perpendicular splendour of Gloucester Cathedral and the dreaming spires of Oxford. Go inside some of the half-timbered buildings, such as those of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Coach Commentaries

An informed commentary can really enhance a coach trip so that the journey becomes part of the experience rather than just a means of getting from A to B.

As well as identifying what can be seen from the coach window, I can give you background information about the people past and present who have lived in or visited the Heart of England. As we drive past we can identify film & TV locations and link the places we travel through to a theme if required.

I can also help with planning the all important refreshment stops and comfort breaks as well as those opportunities for shopping.

Countryside Walks

Walk between charming Cotswold villages, beside curving canals and rippling rivers. Learn how man's activies have shaped our green and pleasant land.

There is still a great deal of England which is very rural and best visited on foot. Let me guide you through not only some of the tourist hotspots such as Chipping Camden, but also lesser known places, rural Herefordshire with its cider making heritage for example, or explore the fascinating geology of the Shropshire Hills.

Routes can be planned of varying distances and difficulty. Contact me to discuss your requirements.
